My dear friend Kay has been caring for her 21-year-old daughter, Joran, since a car accident left her with a Traumatic Brain Injury last March. Kay has turned her living room into a hospital room, moving in a hospital bed and caring for Joran around the clock. Kay has learned to feed Joran through a feeding tube and care for the tracheostomy tube in her throat. Kay and her family are doing an amazing job, and they are full of hope for Joran’s recovery and keep Joran surrounded with positivity and love. Ellie’s 50’s Diner has generously agreed to host a Fundraiser and Spaghetti Dinner Buffet for Joran on Sunday May 1, and Whitestone Band and Elvis are donating their time and talents. Please come out and support Joran and her family, and see what HOPE is all about.
Special thanks to BP, IP, PS and HS for coming up with the amazing idea of making jewelry to support Joran. They have raised $16 so far with their handmade jewelry. That will almost pay for an hour of nursing care to give Kay a break. WAY TO GO, GIRLS!!!!!!

It had been awhile since I’d seen any skywriting when I pulled out of my driveway and headed to pick up a friend when, lo and behold, there it was. This time it wasn’t on I-95. It was visible right in my neighborhood, where I couldn’t miss it. Just a simple reminder, an affirmation of what I already knew, that I am not alone. Even when I feel alone, I always have God. I smiled as I looked up at the image in the sky, and went inside my friend’s house as she got ready to join me for a little much-needed grownup time.
It took a few minutes for her to gather her things before we headed out, and I expected to see the words fading away as we drove down the street, but apparently the skywriter hadn’t been quite finished… Skywriter had added an Equal Sign and a Smiley Face!
A picture really is worth a thousand words. I tried to take a picture, but the trees got in the way and it didn’t come out… If you want to see for yourself, just look upwards more often. It works for me. Thanks again, Skywriter.
U + GOD = 🙂
Thanks, Skywriter! 🙂
